What is the difference between Lowland Pipes and Border Pipes? Let us know it more precisely as it makes the occasion more eventful.
There is no difference at all, this is exactly the same instrument which is simply called the ‘Lowland’ Pipes by some and ‘Border’ Pipes by others. Please see my article on the www.BagpiperBand.com Page, ‘Lowlands and Borders’ for a historical explanation.
Nor is there any relationship between my border style Scottish Small pipes and the ‘Lowland Pipes’, except in the fact that the turning and decorative style of these Scottish Small pipes is borrowed from the style of my Lowland Pipes.
