अस्माकं तु विशिष्टा ये तान्निबोध द्विजोत्तम

Duryodhana said to Dronacharya, ‘O great Brahmin, not only Pandavas, but we also have a number of great warriors (maharathis) in our forces. You ought to pay attention and understand this fact.’

The term पश्य (see) had been used by Duryodhana for Pandavas forces which is standing in front of Dronacharya, while Duryodhana’s forces were standing at the backside of Dronachrya, therefore he used the term निबोध. (pay attention).

 नायका मम सैन्यस्य संज्ञार्थ तान्ब्रवीमि ते I

‘Various commanders in my forces are maharathis and I tell you their names just to remind you to drag your attention (From Pandavas forces)’

सञ्ज्ञार्थं:-

‘I have a number of commanders and soldiers, how much I explain about them. I just give you inkling through indication, as you know everyone.’

Duryodhana felt that he had very strong persons in his forces, despite that, he kept it in mind that the opponents should never be considered lack in power, knowing the fact that his (Duryodhana’s) own forces were strong enough.  Thereby one should never ignore or be indifferent towards enemies. ‘Therefore for the purpose of being attentive I told you about their forces and now I am telling you about ours.’

Upon perceiving the forces of Pandavas Duryodhna was impressed and also became fearful in his mind.

Why Duryodhan was impressed by Pandavas forces and felt fear in his mind?

Virtuous people were present in the Pandavas’ forces. God was also present in their favour. Party in which there are virtuous people performing religious sacraments, and god is present, that influence others. Sinners, grave sinners, wicked persons too are affected by this.  Not only this, but animals, birds, trees, creepers are also influenced. This is just because Dharma (spiritualism) and the god are eternal.

All the materialistic achievements are perishable. Therefore Duryodhana was influenced to perceive them. But his main reliance was on his materialistic powers; he suppressed his fear and told Dronacharya, ‘Our forces are much more capable than those of Pandavas. We can easily win them.’
